I have an exterminator coming to spray for insects. Will their pesticides hurt my Pergo Hardwood flooring?
Unfortunately, we are unable to test every product available on the market today. Most chemicals recommend testing the product in an inconspicuous location to check for staining before applying to the surface in question.
While most petroleum based products have little effect on our flooring, we would recommend that you test the bug spray either on a spare piece of flooring or in an inconspicuous spot to determine if that particular product will harm the finish. Apply the product then wait 30 minutes. Remove the product. If no change has occurred in the coloration or level of gloss, you likely will have no issues.
Additionally, you will need to be sure that they do not apply excessive moisture to the joints, as this could cause swelling.
Can I use the Shark Steam Cleaner on my Hardwood flooring?
Yes, Pergo WoodCraft and Defense+ hardwood floors can be steam-mopped for easy cleaning if specific care instructions are followed. Note: steam should be applied to a microfiber pad and not applied directly to the floor. Please read the care and maintenance instructions for your floor before cleaning.
What is the makeup of Pergo engineered hardwood floors?
Our engineered product is comprised of a high-density fiberboard core to provide stability and dent resistance. The core is sandwiched by a premium hardwood veneer with a protective overlay and an engineered balancing layer. The hardwood veneer provides a natural wood surface while the balancing layer balances the natural expansion and contraction of the wood. This avoids any cupping or crowning that could damage the floor.
What underlayment should I use for my Pergo Hardwood flooring?
Pergo recommends that you use underlayment to ensure the comfort and performance of your new hardwood floor. We recommend Pergo Gold Underlayment when installing Pergo WoodCraft hardwood flooring and Pergo FloorMate underlayment for Pergo Defense+ hardwood flooring.
Can I install Pergo Locking Hardwood flooring in high moisture areas?
PERGO engineered hardwood flooring is waterproof thanks to patented construction that includes a waterproof surface coating and tight locking joints. So, it can be installed in areas such as powder rooms, kitchens or mudrooms. Follow the installation instructions carefully and use approved waterproof molding or foam backer rod, 100% silicone and molding to ensure the perimeter of the room is sealed and your warranty remains valid. See warranty for complete details.
Do not install Pergo engineered hardwood floors in extremely humid or wet applications such as in saunas or swimming pool areas.
Water damage from flooding is not covered under the PERGO engineered hardwood warranty. See warranty for complete details.
Even though your floor is waterproof, spills should be wiped away as quickly as possible and care instructions should be followed to keep your floor looking newer longer.
