Pergo is the leading and most recognized brand of laminate flooring. Because we invented the category back in 1977, and were the first company to introduce this new type of flooring in the United States, the brand name Pergo has become synonymous with laminate flooring. Remember, not all laminate flooring is equal so make sure you are getting genuine Pergo – the brand of laminate flooring you know and trust.
Pergo is the most recognized and preferred brand of laminate flooring. We invented the category 30 years ago and continue to introduce innovative fashion forward designs and exclusive technologies that are easy to live with. We are committed to being the leading laminate flooring company through our state of the art products, industry leading warranties and dedication to customer service.
Pergo consists of several layers of materials bonded together under extreme heat and pressure. Absolutely no harmful glues or toxic chemicals are used in the bonding of our products ensuring health conscience worry free flooring for your family.
The first component is our patented LusterGard TM surface protection which is comprised of a melamine resin enriched with aluminum oxide particles for enhanced scratch and scuff protection creating a highly durable and wear-resistant surface layer. Additionally, this layer can be embossed with our patented AccuWood Texture TM for an added realistic look and feel that is unparalled in the industry.
The second layer is a decorative graphic sheet with stabilizing core papers. This layer provides the beautiful designs you will enjoy in your home for years to come. We are one of the few companies that use a four color image process when creating our designs which result in increased color richness, depth and realism.
The third layer is a highly durable High Density Fiber (HDF) board which provides stability, strength and dent resistance in our floors. Each of our boards are engineered to meet the highest of quality standards and come from recycled wood materials ensuring absolutely no old growth or endangered wood is used in our products.
The final component is a core backing material and on some products a premium attached underlayment for quicker installation and improved sound characteristics.
Pergo’s exclusive LusterGard TM surface protection ensures dirt and dust will not adhere to your floor and guarantees it will not stain or fade like other flooring surfaces. For day to day maintenance an occasional damp mop, quick sweeping or light vacuuming with the hard floor attachments are usually all it takes to keep your Pergo floor clean. Do not use soaps, detergents, or cleaners with wax because they may leave a film, dulling the floor. Difficult spots like nail polish, markers, tar and cigarette burns can be easily removed with Pergo's Laminate and Hard Surface cleaner. Another option is to mix 1 gallon of water with 1 cup vinegar or ½ cup of ammonia per gallon of water. Pergo floors must never be waxed, polished, sanded or refinished and never use a wet or jet mop when cleaning.
For larger issues, Pergo Finishing Putty can be used to repair small chips and dents that have penetrated the laminate layer of your floor. These putties are easy to use and have been color-coordinated for each Pergo laminate floor. If the area to be repaired is larger than a 1/4 of an inch, we recommend replacing the plank. Individual planks can be replaced if necessary, since we use no dye lots and the floor does not fade there will be no variation between planks. To ensure you always have product in the rare event a plank replacement should be needed we recommend you keep a few extra boxes of your flooring on hand in the event that colors are discontinued. Since this procedure can be challenging to the average do-it-yourselfer we recommend you locate a flooring professional who has the proper tools and training for plank replacements. Contact your retailer, call our consumer helpline at: 1-800-33-PERGO (1-800-337-3746), or visit the Store Locator page of our site.
