Pookie has three Great Danes: Joshua (age 8), Spencer (age 8) and Sydney (age 4). They are very active but well-behaved and have performed in several dog shows. Pookie’s log-cabin style home was built especially to accommodate her Great Danes.
Pookie’s previous living room floor was comprised of stone tile surrounded by a 400 square foot area of carpeting. There were several stains on the carpet that had been caused by her Great Danes and these had to be covered with furniture. Pookie wanted a floor that not only was easier to maintain and wouldn’t show stains, but also would complement the existing surrounding tile as well as the décor of her home. Pookie chose Pergo’s Vintage Home Traditional Strip in Northampton Oak.
Pookie is very pleased with her Pergo floor and loves its look. It exceeded her expectations and she is impressed by how much it resembles real wood. According to Pookie, the flooring feels very nice underfoot, even when she is barefoot. The dogs quickly adjusted to the transition from carpet.
Rosie lives with her husband Tom and their three Great Danes in a large home on a pecan orchard. The McCuskers are active in the local Great Dane rescue organization and have adopted several dogs, including Guy (age 8), Chloe (age 7) and Stonewall Jackson (age 3).
Tom and Rosie have undertaken some work to their home since moving to the U.S. from Scotland several years ago. They wanted to replace the terrazzo floor in their home’s kitchen/living room area with laminate. Previously, they had installed non-Pergo laminate in their dining room and bedroom, but they soon realized that it was not of the best quality. The McCuskers especially were concerned that laminate flooring was too “noisy” and sounded hollow. They also were nervous that hair from their Great Danes would be much more noticeable on laminate than on the white terrazzo flooring. The McCuskers chose Pergo Select in Lacquered American Oak.
The McCuskers are “thrilled” with their Pergo flooring. The McCuskers’ Pergo flooring completes their newly-remodeled kitchen and they are very excited about the fact that dog hair has not been any more visible on the laminate than it was on the terrazzo. The dogs are adjusting quite well and have not noticed a difference from the old flooring.
